Our STEAM initiative aims to train a diverse scientific and engineering workforce that reflects the demographics of our nation. With a focus on semiconductor microelectronics, we are adopting an interdisciplinary and hands-on approach that involves various stakeholders, including K12 students, teachers, undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and industry professionals. Drawing on the expertise of educators, researchers, and organizations in the STEAM field, we are developing content that can be implemented through lecture modules, tutorials, workshops, internships, mentorship programs, and other interactive activities. We have initiated pilot programs in underrepresented communities, utilizing industry sponsorships and partnerships with STEAM educators to maximize our impact.
