Vision 2025

Leading the new information technology landscape

Since its founding in 2001, CITRIS and the Banatao Institute have tackled the big questions, working with research scientists at four University of California campuses to develop novel technologies for the benefit of California and the larger society beyond.

As we enter a new age driven by powerful new technologies – machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), drones and UAVs, augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR), genetic editing, and, powering it all, quantum leaps of data science – the needs and questions change. To lead us through this new landscape, CITRIS launches a new strategic plan, Vision 2025.

Research Thrusts

CITRIS and the Banatao Institute has expanded its research thrusts to address a new era of vast technological change. Our research thrusts are grouped into the subcategories of Core Technology and Technology and Society. The Thrusts are divided into two main groups: Core Technology and Technology & Society. Looking to encompass not only highly innovative projects but their potential to solve societal issues.
